FinnFest USA '99 In Cooperation with Brooks Sports, presents the Paavo Nurmi Run

This traditional run will be a pleasure for all runners/walkers. The 5K (3.1 mile) course will encompass the arboreal upper campus of the University of Washington with wonderful vistas of Mt. Rainier and Lake Washington. The course will start (and finish) at the Husky Union Building (HUB), and will descend (and rise) to the lower campus area including a lap around famous Husky Stadium. WHO IS PAAVO NURMI??? "The Flying Finn" dominated middle and long distance running in the 1920s. On 25 occasions Paavo set world standards at distances ranging from 1,500 to 20,000 meters. I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained.
