Registration Packet (Online version) Introduction

Welcome, Tervetuloa, Välkommen!

On these pages you will find the on-line version of the FinnFest USA '99 Registration Packet sent to the multitudes of individuals who pre-ordered it in 1998 and early 1999. If you did not order or recieve one, not to worry. There is still time to get in on the fun! Below are the instructions you will need to print and submit your registration requests at your own convenience.

Registration to FinnFest USA '99 will bring many benefits to those who plan to attend this year's festival. Read the Welcome from the Seattle FinnFest President, and take a peak at a News Release for a teaser of what's in store for you at this year's festival. Those who wish to do so will also be able make arrangements in advance for Meals and Lodging. Take advantage of University of Washington on-campus accommodations, or discounts offered by local merchants, as well as special offers on travel. Reserve your place to special events and activities such as the Golf Tournament, Paavo Nurmi Fun-Run, and the Salolampi Children's Language Camp. Artists, Exhibitors, and Tori (Marketplace) vendors can submit their applications, while the musically inclined among us can register (both individuals and groups) for the Festival Chorus. You can even set yourself up to be "stylin'" in our fashionable FinnFest-wear. It'll be the rage this summer, for sure!   :)

And, as if that weren't enough, many extra-event activities such as Tours, Cruises, and local sites and cultural attractions are happening before, during, and after FinnFest'99 which will show you some of the best of Seattle- and Puget Sound-area living.

That's just a part of what you can expect when you register. For more complete information, check out our festival events schedule and the rest of the packet information listed in the links below. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You'll be certain to have a wonderful time with us at FinnFest USA '99 in Seattle, Washington! We hope to see you there.

Kiitos paljon, Thank you!

Registration Packet Quick Guide:

The FinnFest USA '99 Registration Packet can be divided into four(4) distinct catagories of content:

Registration Packets were sent out to satisfy pre-order fulfillment in mid-February, 1999. The following guide refers to information included in that mailing, with updates as appropriate. As well, additional information subsequently made available is included as indicated below.

Introductory Material currently includes the Cover Letter of the Registration Packet, which is composed of the Greetings from the Seattle FinnFest President, Pirkko Borland, and a short summary of some of the Benefits which can be enjoyed by visitors who register.

Four pages from the Registration Packet comprise the "core" of the Registration Pack, and are Required Forms to complete your registration. These are pages:

  • 1) Contact and Group Info;
  • 2) On-campus Accomodations and Ticketed Events;
  • 3) Arrival, Desk Info, Needs, Interests, Raffle Info and Payment Options;
  • 4) and the Liability Agreement.
These are the *minimum* required forms which must be filled out and submitted to complete your registration. All else is strictly elective and is not required to be a registered participant of FinnFest USA '99. To find out more about Supplimental Registration Options, please see the "Elective Event Options" and "Post-mailing Additions" below.

The remainder of the Registration Packet which was mailed out for pre-order fulfillment consisted of:

  • Ticketed Events Descriptions Page;
  • Local and Regional Extra-event Tours Packet;
  • Special FinnFest rates at local Hotels;
  • an abbreviated Schedule of FinnFest USA '99 Highlights;
  • a FinnFest USA '99 Merchandise Order Form;
  • and Information about the Finnish Studies Program at the University of Washington.

Elective Forms allow you to make special reservations for supplimental activities in addition to your basic registration. These include:

  • Local and Regional Tours Reservation Form (page #3 of the Tours packet);
  • Reservation Form for Special FinnFest '99 Rates at Local Hotels (page #1);
  • The FinnFest USA '99 Merchandise Order Form...
  • (Tickets for the FinnFest Winter Raffle must be ordered seperately through the mail. Drawing is to be conducted at the Annual FinnFest Meeting on Sunday, April 18, 1999.)

Each of these include Supplimental Information Sheets describing in some detail the activity or event option available for advanced registration. The Registration Packet mailed out included information about, or descriptions of these and more:

  • Announcement for Special Air Fares for FinnFest USA '99;
  • Descriptions of Ticketed Events at FinnFest;
  • Descriptions of Local and Regional area Tours available before, during, and after FinnFest '99 in July and August;
  • Information about Cruises up the "Inside-Passage" of Alaska and British Columbia in July and August, 1999;
  • Descriptions of Local Hotels offering Special FinnFest '99 rates;
  • A abbreviated sample of the FinnFest USA '99 select Events Schedule;
  • and Information about the Finnish Studies Program at the University of Washington.

The above makes up the components of the Registration Packet as previously shipped in early 1999. Since that time, several Additional Forms and Information have been made available for publication in this on-line version, for your convenience. Most of these additions include more detailed information and Reservation/Registration Forms for listed Ticketed Events, Activities, and FinnFest Participants mentioned in the Packet Information Sheets, or elsewhere on the FinnFest USA '99 Web-site at "WWW.FINNS.ORG". (Expect more options to appear here as they become available). The Additional Forms and Registration Options currently available for you include:

    Downloading, Printing, and Mailing your Registration Packet:

    You have several options for downloading and printing your own copy of the Registration Packet.

    The first option is to print the forms directly from within your Web-browser you are using now. Simply navigate amongst the individual forms and print each individually as you view them. Each form has been formatted to print well with most Browser/PC/Printer combinations. If, however, this option is not satisfactory in your case (you do not presently have access to a printer, or prefer to print at a later time or location, for example) you do have the option of saving a copy of the most important documents to disk for printing at your leasure.

    Another option is to download the entire packet now, and save it to disk for later use. The following links will give you the entire Registration Packet in electronic form. {Most are in Microsoft Word format, with a few exceptions being Web documents). The complete packet (current version) is approximately 1.5Mb in size. The "Required Forms" document is only 211Kb.

  • Download entire Registration Packet as compressed "ZIP" file Now! (1.25Mb)
  • Download Reqiuired Forms (only) in Word "DOC" format Now! (0.2Mb)
  • To use these files and documents you will need a "ZIP" file compression utility installed – we recommend getting your's from TUCOWS, if you don't already have one – and a document reader capable of viewing and printing Microsoft Word documents.

    If you would prefer to request your Registration Packet via more traditional means (the Mail Service) please read the notice below. We plan to have an e-mail form for such requests avialble soon ...
